WINERY
Producing
wines since
1928
Our winery is geolocated in the same latitude as some of the most recognized wine regions in the world, such as Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
Nestled between the vast expanses of Brazil and Argentina, our coasts are framed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Rio de la Plata. Located in the department of Canelones, where the country's largest concentration of wineries and vineyards is found, we are just 20 minutes from the center and the seaport of Montevideo.
Antigua Bodega was built in 1928, as a purely family-owned business with 100% Uruguayan capital.
We have a capacity of 2,200,000 liters, with significant underground capacity and various materials for the vinification and conservation of our wines—such as concrete, stainless steel, and barrels of French and American oak. This variety allows us to offer a wide range of styles in the wines that make up our portfolio. We have a strong imprint of domestic consumption and a presence in the markets of Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Panama, the United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden, the United States, China, and New Zealand.

Santos
lugares and the
pink granite
Our vineyards are located in the southern part of the country, in Santos Lugares (La Paz, Canelones), and along the banks of the Santa Lucía River (Melilla, Montevideo), covering a total of 30 hectares. In Santos Lugares, we have plantations of Merlot and Sangiovese, while in Melilla, we cultivate white varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño, and red varieties like Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Marselan, Merlot, Syrah, and Tannat.
TERRIOR
We have a privileged terroir with rustic and rocky soils that allow for excellent drainage, enabling plants to absorb only what they need. In Santos Lugares, the subsoil is composed of decomposing pink granite known as "Granito de La Paz''.
Our vines are imported from France and Italy, depending on the variety, and all our fine wines are made with our own grapes.
Harvest typically begins in late February with the harvesting of white grapes and continues into March with the reds. All our grapes are hand-harvested in 20 kg crates, contributing to the proper treatment of the fruit. We vinify by plot, and aging can range from 6 to 36 months, depending on the desired profile for each label.

Experiences
Aromas and Flavors of Our Terroir
Tasting wines in the place where its grapes were harvested, in the winery where it was vinified, in direct contact with its protagonists, turns the event into a unique experience.
Understanding that wine in its own territory delivers the best of itself, we strive to offer experiences where wine and its context take center stage.
